Criminal Justice Program Students Visit the Wallace Pack Unit of TDCJ

On Friday, Feb. 19th, the Law 2 (3rd year) and the Practicum-Internship (4th year) students had the opportunity to travel to Navasota to tour the Wallace Pack Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with Warden Herrera and Asst. Warden Bilnoski. This was a unique experience for these students as they learned about the services that the prison unit offers its officers and its offenders. Students were able to walk through all parts of the prison and even visited a solitary confinement cell to see what it was like and visited with an inmate about his choices that put him in TDCJ along with how the prison system has changed over the years. The prison system is a complex organization with many moving parts and these students were able to see exactly how it works.
