My name is Chris Slovak and I teach English III EOC. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sam Houston State University and I love my job here at Willis High School. It is going to be a great year and I look forward to progressing together into this semester.
I will be challenging my students on a daily basis and expecting the most out of them. I know they are all capable of great things and I will not allow them to settle for less. This does not, however, mean I will overwork them. Our class will be centered on project based learning and will consist mostly of projects, class discussions and debates, writing, and activities that require them to think outside the box. I hope to have an energetic classroom that combines learning and fun and ensures the safety and comfort of each and every student.
Parents, I want to thank each of you for allowing me to become involved in your child’s learning experience and I hope to be a stepping stone to great things in their futures. I encourage you to please contact me if you have any concerns or questions throughout the course of the year. I believe strongly that we are now a team with the mutual goal of educating your children and getting them ready for the real world, which cannot be accomplished without working together. I look forward to getting to know you and embarking on this journey together.
I encourage students to come in for tutorials any time they feel they might be falling behind or might need extra help. I am available before and after school upon request, during Wildkat Lunch, and every Monday and Wednesday after school. Please let me know during the day if you plan to come in the afternoon.
