Michael Storms graduated from Texas A&M University in 2000 with BBA in Finance. He worked at Heartlight Ministries, a residential facility for struggling teens, for two and a half years. He then began his career in education at New Caney High School in 2003, where he taught math and coached boys basketball. In 2008, Michael moved to Dekaney High School to continue teaching math and to coach basketball at the 5A level. He then went to Waskom High School and became the Head Boys Basketball Coach in 2011. He was named the District Coach of the Year and the County Co-Coach of the Year. After one year in Waskom, he returned to the Houston area in order to be closer to his then, two year old daughter, Michaela. During the 2012-2013 school year, he taught and coached at The Woodlands High School, where he met his wife, Megan, who currently still coaches basketball at The Woodlands High School. Michael is now in his fourth year at Willis High School as the Head Boys' Basketball Coach. His daughter, Michaela, is now 5 years old and is attending kindergarten.
