I am Coach Payne Andrus. This is my first year to be a full-time teacher and coach. This year, I will be teaching Algebra 2 and assisting with coaching the men's basketball team. A little bit about me, I am a Willis High School Graduate. After high school, I attended the Naval Academy where I played college basketball there for one year. After my freshman year, I transferred to MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS, where I played college basketball for three years and earned my bachelor's degree in mathematics.
My parents are former Willis ISD employees. My dad was the former head men's basketball coach at Willis High School, and my mother was a former middle school math teacher at Lynn Lucas Middle School. My passion for education stems from my parents, who have been educators throughout their entire careers. My dad is now a Superintendent (North Zulch ISD), and my mom is now a curriculum director/testing coordinator (North Zulch ISD).
Although I am new to the profession, I have extremely high expectations for myself, as a teacher, and for my students. My goal for each of my students is that they each reach their full academic potentials, in preparation for reaching their full potentials in life. I am extremely excited about this academic year and the opportunity that it presents.
