Ladykats Soccer

On Thursday, they took on the Lufkin Lady Panthers and came out with a 1-1 tie. Senior Dominique Veronico scored the lone goal for the Ladykats from a free kick and sophomore Alex Clark recorded 9 saves in goal. The defense, led by sophomore Destiny Haliburton, junior Shea Davis, sophomore Lizbeth Lopez, and junior Kennedi Oxner, played extremely well and was able to shut down any attacks the Lady Panthers came up with.

Then on Friday, the Ladykats took on Hudson and exploded on offense with a 6-1 win. Scoring were junior Bethany Wilder (1), senior Carolina Pavon (1), senior Dominique Veronico (1), senior Hailey Akin (2), and sophomore Katelyn Barry (1). The Ladykats held possession of the ball the majority of the game and kept Hudson from having any attempts on goal until the last 3 minutes of the game when a defensive mishap allowed them to unleash their only shot of the game, which slipped past Alex Clark in goal.

For the final tournament game on Saturday, the Ladykats matched up against Nacogdoches and again came away with an astounding 4-0 win. Nacogdoches is a really good team but our players played the best soccer of their season so far. The Ladykats ended the game with a total of 32 shots on goal and kept Nacogdoches to only 6 shots. Scoring the goals were junior Bethany Wilder (2), senior Dominique Veronico (1), and sophomore Summer Massey (1). In the goal, sophomore Alex Clark recorded 5 saves and earned another shutout for the season.

So far this season, the Ladyakts are 5-1-1 and have outscored their opponents 29 to 10. They are off today and then match up against Conroe HS on Friday (at Conroe HS) at 7:00pm. They then begin their District play on Tuesday (Jan 27) at home against College Station HS.
