Athletics Registration & Preparticipation Requirements

To be cleared for participation by Willis ISD prior to the 2025-2026 school year, please review this information and complete the steps outlined in this section.

Step 1: Rank One

Willis ISD uses Rank One for our athletic and fine arts participation management software. The Willis ISD Rank One Parent Portal will guide you through the steps that must be submitted prior to participation for the 2025-2026 school year. The UIL Acknowledgement and Emergency Information documents are required and MUST be completed prior to any type of participation in UIL sanctioned activities.

Step 2: Pre-Participation Physical

Based upon minimum requirements for participation in UIL activities, and for the utmost concern regarding student safety, Willis ISD requires an annual physical on file in the WHS Athletic Training Office, dated April 1st or after, for the upcoming school year. Per UIL policy requirement, this form must be on file prior to participation in any practice, scrimmage, performance or contest before, during or after school.

This completed and signed form can be submitted via the RankOne Parent Portal in the link in Step 1 above.

Willis ISD’s Title IX administrators have attended Eichelbaum Wardell Hansen Powell & Muñoz P.C.’s “New Title IX Rules and Regulations” series. Mr. McClatchy is in his 28th professional year as an athletic trainer. A graduate of Texas A&M University, he has spent 25 years of his health care career here in the Willis area, currently serving his 2nd stint as Head Athletic Trainer for Willis ISD.

Jordan Gonzales, MS, LAT, ATC

Houston Methodist Outreach Athletic Trainer

Mr. Gonzales is in his 8th year as a certified athletic trainer, 6 of which have been with Willis ISD. Before coming to Willis, he spent 2 years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Northeastern State University while earning a Master's degree in Health and Kinesiology in 2016. Mr. Gonzales earned his Bachelor's degree in athletic training from the University of Tulsa in 2014.

Mrs. Terrell is in her 4th year as a professional, and her 3rd year at Willis High School. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology in 2016, then graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2018 with a Master's in Athletic Training.

Applicants and parent/guardians must read ALL aspects of the cover letter in the link below prior to completing the application. The application link is found at the end of the cover letter.
Please have at least two Letters of Recommendation emailed to: jgonzales@willisisd.org. (These recommendations need to come from teachers, coaches, or administrators you have been associated with in Jr. High or High School.)
The application will be verified for accuracy, and must be complete, before being selected for the interview process.
The application and letters of recommendation are due by May 22, 2024.

Due to capacity limits, tickets will no longer be sold at the gate for varsity football games.

Note: All Willis ISD employees may attend all varsity games (except football) and all sub-varsity games free of charge by presenting their employee ID at the gate.
